Bikini What?! (History)

Já pensaste no porquê do nome biquíni? Ou desta peça ser desenhada de uma forma e não de outra?

Os primeiros "fatos-de-banho" apareceram na primeira metade do século XIX com a moda dos banhos de mar. Mas foi nos anos 30 que tudo mudou com a moda dos banhos de sol, que eram prescritos pelos médicos como indispensáveis à saúde, e porque em França começou-se a receber subsídio de férias, o que atraiu várias pessoas à praia.

A moda do bronzeado

Coco Channel, considerada já nessa época uma mulher livre,  também foi uma das causadoras desta mudança brusca quando, após umas férias, foi vista com um bronzeado espantoso. E é a partir desse momento que a moda do bronzeado começou a entrar em vigor.

Inicia-se então uma saga para encontrar o fato-de-banho perfeito para conseguir o melhor bronzeado, já que os modelos existentes tapavam o mais possível do corpo. E, por esta razão, um novo fato-de-banho é lançado: sem costas.

Condenado pela sociedade

Mas o biquíni foi criado mais tarde, quando o engenheiro mecânico francês Louis Reard, a 3 de julho de 1946, apresentou a sua coleção em Paris de trajes de banho com um modelo completamente diferente do resto da coleção, apenas com duas peças, que chamou de “biquíni”, pois achou tão atómico como a bomba que tinha sido testada quatro dias antes pelos Estados Unidos da América (EUA), no Atol de Bikini, no Oceano Pacífico.

A lendária editora das revistas Harper’s Bazaar e Vogue, Diana Vreeland, depois de assistir a este desfile de moda de Louis Reard, em Paris, comentou que quem usar aquele modelo de duas peças iria revelar tudo menos o nome de solteira da sua mãe.

No entanto, logo após o lançamento, esta peça foi condenada pelo Papa Pio XII no final da Segunda Guerra Mundial por ser contra os padrões seguidos pela igreja católica.               

Estrelas de cinema não lhe resistem

As estrelas de cinema eram as maiores divulgadoras deste novo modelo de duas peças. Com o lançamento do biquíni, surgiram algumas sex symbol, como a francesa Brigitte Bardot, nos anos 50, que eternizou esta nova peça no filme "E Deus Criou a Mulher" ao usar um modelo em xadrez vichy.

Relacionado com a revolução de costumes década de 60, as mulheres adotaram o biquíni como uma forma de expressarem a sua liberdade. Nessa época, a sensual atriz Ursula Ursula Andress usa um poderoso biquíni na cena do filme do de James Bond, "Dr.No". Foi também nesta altura que algumas piscinas exibiam cartazes onde se lia "Não utilizar os chamados biquínis".

Foi então que surgiram outros modelos como o monokini, um modelo sem soutien, apenas com dois suspensórios, e que foi criado em 1964 por Rudi Gernreich. Posteriormente, apareceram os modelos string (fio-dental), no Brasil onde a cultura da “bundinha” ganhou vida.

Actualmente, o biquíni é classificado como  tão importante como outra peça de roupa qualquer. Diversos modelos são produzidos e apresentados em desfiles de moda, criando o desejo nas mulheres de adquirir todos os anos um novo modelo.

Como recordam muitas pessoas que viveram nos anos 30 e 40, mais propriamente no Algarve e na Madeira, era com a chegada das inglesas a usarem o novo modelo de duas peças, que as portuguesas eram “postas de lado” para que os namorados ficassem livres (pelo menos durante o verão) para estar com as turistas que vestiam o recém-chegado biquíni.

The legendary publisher of magazines Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, Diana Vreeland, after watching this fashion show of Louis Reard in Paris, who commented that use that model in two parts would prove anything but the maiden name of his mother.

However, shortly after launch, this piece was condemned by Pope Pius XII at the end of World War II for being against the standards followed by the Catholic Church.

Movie stars do not resist it

The movie stars were the biggest propagators of this new model of two parts. With the introduction of the bikini, some appeared fri symbol, like the French Brigitte Bardot in the 50s, this new piece that immortalized in the film "And God Created Woman" when using a model in chess vichy.

Related to the revolution of the 60's costumes, women adopted the bikini as a way to express their freedom. At that time, the sultry actress Ursula Andress Ursula uses a powerful bikini scene in James Bond film, "Dr.No." It was also at this time that some pools exhibited placards that read "Do not use so called bikinis."

It was then that other models have emerged as the monokini, a model without bra, only with two braces, which was created in 1964 by Rudi Gernreich. Later, the models appeared string (thong) in Brazil where the culture of "ass" came to life.

Currently, the bikini is rated as important as any other piece of clothing. Several models are produced and presented at fashion shows, creating a desire in women to acquire every year a new model.
